As I only breed when I want to add to the family and continue the Treufreund line, every litter is carefully thought out and planned.
Health and Temperament are the two most important things I strive for in my puppies, as lets face it, I only intend to keep one puppy from each litter - most have to be carefully placed into loving family homes. TEMPERAMENT It is most important that the dogs I breed have super temperaments to enable them to handle everything a busy family life will throw at them. I will only breed from parents with fabulous temperaments. HEALTH As technology develops, it enables us as breeders to test for all sorts of inherited diseases to help us make a more informed decision when it comes time to choosing a stud dog. All breeding stock are tested for the following... • Hips/Elbows scored • Eyes - checked annually by an approved Ophthalmologist • Heart • Thyroid • Lupoid Dermatosis • Cone Degeneration • Dilute gene TRAINABILITY GSPs are a smart breed (often too smart for their own good) so having a dog that is willing to work with you and learn, makes life so much more pleasant for the dog and its family! NATURAL ABILITY As I said earlier, I haven't ventured to the field yet but with every planned litter I aim to maintain a high level of natural ability. I may not hunt my dogs, but there should be no reason why that with a bit of training they couldn't go out and do their job as a Gundog... its in the genes! VACCINATIONS When the puppies leave here from 8 weeks of age they will have had their first vaccinations and need two more at 11 and 15 weeks. MICROCHIP They will have been microchipped and registered on the National Companion Animal Register, with me (their breeder) as a secondary contact. You will just have to register them with your local council. WORMING Puppies get wormed every 2 weeks from birth, it is advised you continue this until 3 months of age and then every 3 months after that. PUPPY PACK A comprehensive puppy book including copies of the parents health test results, pedigree, signed contract, tips and tricks on raising your puppy and helping it settle in and progress photos of the litter from birth to 8 weeks. I will also supply a blanket and toy with smells familiar to them to help them settle in their new environment, along with puppy food and a few extra bits and pieces... LIFETIME BREEDER SUPPORT All puppies bred by me are welcome back at any stage of their life. I expect I will be your first point of call should you ever need to rehome your Treufreund GSP. I am only a phone call/email away for advice or guidance - anytime. |
My next litter is currently in the pipeline. Mother to be is Libby and we are aiming for a litter at some stage in 2022. She is currently undergoing all appropriate health testing requirements to ensure she is suitable to be bred from. She is taking a break from breed showing and competing in Rally O - we are hoping to gain her RA title this year!
I am more than happy to recommend other reputable breeders, flick me an email to find out more. [email protected] |
